I thought we were superb in the first half and should have gone in at half time two goals up, Scott Cross missed an opportunity when one on one with Turley, then Adam Confue side foots from three yards out straight at the keeper. Apart from three or four headers over the bar, I don’t think Brackley troubled us with too many attempts on goal in the first half.
The second half was a touch different as they started to take control of the game, we were starting to tire as the game went on and it showed in the amount of possession they were having. Their first goal came on 71 minutes after Richard Morris had been elbowed full in the face after a corner and while he was sprawled across the floor, they looped a free header into the empty net.
Once they scored we hit a brick wall and three more goals came quickly, the score totally flattered Brackley. I never normally call officials, but yesterday I felt very hard done by, we received three very poor yellow cards, two of which were very early in the game which did not help us at all. Their management team leapt up in the air after every tackle! I feel the ref was influenced by this behaviour, as he appeared to favour Brackley. They are a class act and in the end deserved their win but they didn't need the extra help!
Although disappointed with going out of the FA Cup, we can now concentrate on our main aim, which is to continue our good league form, we have as our goal the play offs as a minimum and it is now time to concentrate on this. I hope to add a couple of fresh faces in the near future alongside new signings Danny Edmonds and Liam Dolman in time for our re arranged trip to Biggleswade Town next Saturday.
Just like to finish by thanking our supporters on Saturday, to be applauded off the pitch like we were, was so much appreciated. Let's hope we can continue this type of support at our home and away games over the coming months.
