The Dearne Valley Bulldogs embark on a new chapter in their story as they enter the Yorkshire men’s summer league this season playing their first game last Saturday at home against Birstall Victoria.
The game was a close affair throughout although the early season rustiness of the Bulldogs was clear to see at times, the score changed hands several times during the game with never more than a converted try separating the sides. However it was the visitors that lead going into the final minutes before the home side scored in the final minutes in the corner to level the scores, but unfortunately could not convert to seal the win, with the final score finishing 20-20.
Bulldogs tries coming from, Harvey Potts (2), Chris Palmer and Nick Davies with Rob Booth adding 2 conversions.
The Dearne Valley Men of the match went to 1, Harvey Potts 2, Callum Potts 3, Rob Bowling.
Bulldogs head coach Karl Pearce commented afterwards “It was a good performance for the first game with things still to work on but a very encouraging start”
