Dearne Valley RUFC secure the services of tighthead prop, Ant Hamilton.

Dearne Valley RUFC are thrilled to announce the signing of Ant Hamilton, tighthead prop, for the 2024-25 season. Ant, previously of Wath-Upon-Dearne RUFC, will join up with the team this week for the start of pre-season training.

Speaking ahead of the move, Ant said "Over the last year I have admired the project that Dearne Valley RUFC are implementing, and it is really clear that the team have great direction, talent, and standards on and off the pitch". He continued, "I have been lucky enough to play at some really amazing clubs over the last 20 years but now is time for me to embark on a new challenge and it is something I can't wait to get stuck into".

Alongside his playing role, Ant will also join the coaching staff as Head Coach Callum Emery's number two. This means we now have a full coaching team of Callum Emery as Head Coach and Director of Rugby, Ant as Assistant Coach, Thomas Kerry as Forwards Coach, and Rob Bowling as Skills Coach.

"I have spoken to Director of Rugby, Callum Emery, and discussed the opportunity and long term vision with him in great depth. We have a number of ideas that we are aligned on that would forge success of the team and that was really key to my decision in taking this role" said Ant. "I have the opportunity to use my experience to drive an off-field strategy that will create a sustainable club, underpinned by exciting rugby, professional standards, and innovation. Some of the ideas we will implement will be unique in Yorkshire Rugby, especially at level 10, and we are keen to champion that innovation".

Speaking about the new signing and addition to the coaching team, Callum Emery said "Ant is one of the best tighthead props in the Yorkshire League and therefore this is a real coup for us". He continued "Ant showed a real enthusiasm to be involved with the club, as well as showing a real passion and commitment to the long term vision we have for Dearne Valley RUFC and his contributions off the field will be greatly welcomed".

Dearne Valley RUFC have started pre-season, and are continuing their preparations for the start of the season on September 7th. In the meantime, stay tuned for further updates.
