The latest visitors to Della were Duckinfield, Allthough we made it 5/5 wins this season It's difficult to know where to start reporting as the performance was as poor as last weeks. it was good though to see Bryn Hughes back following injury, and the way we started pointed to a good afternoons rugby. scoring after 5 mins with the backs creating room on the wing to speed over, shortly after white went over for Dellas second both superbly converted by Boyd. 14-0 There was the usual endeavour the forwards, Berry, Worthington and Watson their usual busy selves but, it was in the scrums where we were taught a lesson. Sallisbury Parrot and Griffpussy were forced back at virtually every scrum. When we got the ball to the backs we looked dangerous especially McCormick and Sean Watson. but the last pass seemed to go astray or wrong option taken. Della had to defend for lengthy spells such was the dominance if Dukinfields scrum. The visitors first try came from a penalty try after Salle were judged to have collapsed it four times close to their line . no real complaints 14-7. Doc Hughes decided to beef up the pack by introducing Rogers earlier than expected. Just before half time Jay Boyd produced a bit of magic by dummying and diving over from close range. 21-7 But Duckingfield wouldn't go away and following some good approach play were awarded a scrum 5 yards put and seemed to have no trouble marching the scrum over Salles line for a half time score of. 21-14
In the second half with both sides were committed with salle having the better chances creating opportunities out wide but couldn't turn posession to points. Duckingfield used the dominant scrum to good effect boring to watch but effective.
But when Della clicked they were irresistible from a lineout in Duckenfields 22 a superb catch by Hughes led to the backs combining to be held up just short and with some clever mauling Worthington scooted over winning Della the Bonus point with the fourth try unfortunately the conversion by Harrison sailed wide 26-14. This again inspired the visitors and with della falling off a couple of tackles they worked the ball wide for the Center to crash over in the corner the following conversion was superbly converted for a score of 26-21. it was now anybodies game but you felt Della would click again if the got the ball out wide. This they did and it was Sean Watson again making the break to kick through for the chasing winger to touch down again the conversion just edged wide. 31-21. with time running out Duckingfield again put pressure on a della scrum close to our line forcing the home sides scrum to capitulate thus leaving the ref with no choice but to award another penalty try. for a full time score of 31-28. This was an ugly win and Duckingfield fully deserve credit with coming away with two bonus points themselves. I know it can't always be champagne stuff and with five wins from five games it's hard to complain and if we are getting bonus point wins while we are playing badly it can't be all bad. But if we to be serious contenders for the league and cup you feel we need to improve. Surprisingly the MOM went to Sean Watson with some superb covering tackles and several line breaks.

It was great to see Culinary cuties "Krafty" Karen and "Juggling" Julia were back in business this week but we're noticeably sheepish and rather subdued. It was only later we discovered Mike " The Length" Hunt. The Warrow FC footballer who they targeted 3 years and 9 months ago. was in the clubhouse with his three year old son who had a mop of ginger hair ? .Neither were available for comment last night.
