Dixonians v Camp Hill Match report

Dixonians first League game of the season ended in victory. With a wet build up to the game, the rain ceased just in time to start play. Early on in the first half Dixies made the early pressure count, forcing a knock on following a kick into Camp Hills half. The fumble allowed quickly reacting winger Sean the opportunity to scoop up the ball, step through some opponents and run over for Dixies first try.

Following the restart Dixonians started to work it through the forwards, playing the phases and then releasing it out to the backs. This allowed Jack at centre to run over for the second try of the game. More of the same forward play, with multiple offloads on the move, secured Dixonians a penalty close to Camp Hills try line. After being taken quickly, Mo at flanker then scored, sealing the lead for Dixonians in the first half.

Substitutions were made at half time in both the forwards and backs and the second half commenced with Camp Hill responding quickly, piling the pressure on through their forwards. This forced us to concede a number of penalties and eventually pushed us to defend from our try line. After defending multiple attacks they scored down the blind side in the corner. We countered soon after with a precision kick from Dan at flyhalf, placing the ball into the corner for winger Sean to chase, retrieve from a fortunate bounce and score for his second try.

A missed penalty kick and a second try from Jack at centre coupled with Dan kicking 4 conversions ended the game 35-5 to the visitors, Dixonians. A great performance spearheaded by the hard work and commitment of the forwards. Man of the match was awarded to Mo (Kieran), for great swerving carries, solid tackling and even his first try of the season. Dixies smiles all round.
