Dorchester Town Football Club is pleased to confirm the signing of Luke Holmes, son of Magpies legend Matty from Wimborne Town.

The 18-year old midfielder came through the ranks at the AFC Bournemouth academy, playing as both a winger and in a more central role; and in Jermyn’s eyes, Holmes is someone who fits the bill when it comes to the player-manager’s future plans.

Speaking to the Dorset Echo, Jermyn said: “We are taking steps to build something over the next couple of years and Luke is another young player who can be a part of that. We spoke to Luke and I think he could see what we are trying to achieve here so he decided to come to us. Luke is very good on the ball and a little bit different to what we have got at the moment. He plays in that number 10 role and gets things going, but I think he can play anywhere in the centre of the park”

Upon his release from AFC Bournemouth, he joined Poole Town at the beginning of the season, making ten appearances for the Dolphins. In search of more game time, he left Tatnam Farm for Wimborne Town, returning to Cuthbury where he had enjoyed a fruitful loan spell in the previous year.
