White tells Wanderers to get going

A DEFIANT Marc White has insisted that his Dorking Wanderers side "should be in the top eight not the bottom eight".

The Wanderers boss watched his side end a run of five straight defeats with victory over Shoreham on Saturday in one of only two Sussex County League games not to fall foul of the weather.

The result moved the West Humble side up two places to 15th in the table and White wants to see the team continue to move up.

He said: "We are never a bottom eight side, we are playing some good football. We should be in the top eight, not the bottom eight because we are putting in good performances and just not getting results we should have done.

"It's our own fault, but I can think of 12 points that I could put on the total we've got that we should have easily won, but we have been naive at the back and that's been our undoing, but we're getting that together now."

Wanderers are ten points off the top eight places in their first season in Division One and White believes they more than got what it takes to compete at this level.

He added: "We are no whipping boys in this league, there's not a team in this league that would want to play us.

"We can beat anybody in this league. Results have not shown that recently, but we are hoping that we can put together some semblance of a good run of results to get us into the top half of the table and beyond.

"We looked at the fixtures four weeks ago and said there were a load of points up for grabs because we were playing bottom half teams, it didn't work out that way, but now we're playing some of the top teams, it doesn't matter, I don't care who we play."
