Dockers hold on to gain bonus point win...

Dockers set out to put in a strong performance following their defeat to North Dorset in the cup last week. The team started strong with a swift brace from Alex Priest, one converted by Tommy Keir. Alex Priest managed to find faults in the Walcot defence by playing the ball early finding gaps round the Walcot rucks and also running in his second from the half way line.

Walcot's defence seemed to remain in a state of shock when Jamie Coyne-Stacey ran in a try from his own 22, quickly followed by a strong running line from Matt Peri completing the centre pairing Dockers scored another try (converted by Tommy Keir). With just 15 minutes gone Dockers were already 24 - 0 up and the bonus point had been secured.

The visitors needed to pull together if they wanted to get back into the game. After a short team talk under the posts Walcot came back strong, pinning the Dockers in the their own half for a period of 15 minutes. Dockers defended well but eventually a gap was found out wide and Walcot ran in their first converted try.

Dockers new they needed another score to maintain the ascendancy in the game and their wish was answered once more from Jamie Coyne-Stacey who seemed impossible to tackle, fending 5 tackles and running it under the sticks to complete his brace (converted by Tommy Keir).

The second half saw Walcot come back very strong, identifying weaknesses in the Dockers defence through some enterprising attacking play, using the ball quickly and getting it wide. Walcot opened the scoring after just 2 minutes with a converted try.

Dockers bounced back with Alex Priest managing to steal the ball out of the Number 8's hands and running the ball from the Docker's 10 metre line. A simply executed 2 on 1 inside to Neil Ketchley who drew a man and gave it back inside to Alex Priest produced a 1 vs 1 on the full back. The ball went to ground and Alex Priest cleverly used his footballing skills to dribble the ball around the 15 only to be tackled to ground without possession. However, on his way to ground he managed to turn his body and flick the ball to Tommy Keir in support who managed to collect it and run in for hi first try (converted by Chester Clough). 38 - 14 to the Dockers.

Walcot managed to respond with another converted try within 2 minutes edging them closer (38 - 21 to the Dockers).

Dockers need to maintain possession and score some points to edge Walcot out of the game and ensure the victory and Chester Clough obliged by running I a try out wide following a good line out option inside the Walcot 22. 43 - 21 to the Dockers.

Walcot returned strong forcing mitakes from the Dockers which led to the second sin bin of the game. Donald Wharton would spend the rest of the game in the bin for stepping in an offside position to snuff out the oncoming Walcot backs. Down to 14 men Dockers struggled to stop Walcot's new found belief, leading to 2 more converted trys for the visitors. 43 - 35 to the Dockers.

Dockers managed to hold on, maintain the win and collect the bonus point. The side certainly don't have trouble scoring points but need to work on their discipline if they wish to keep all players on the field and stop sides from scoring. Overall another excellent performance and exciting rugby thrilling the supporters on the sidelines.
