Doune Castle AFC celebrated 70 years of illustrious history at this year’s Sportsmen’s Dinner held on Saturday 16 March at Doune Castle Bowling Club.

Local man, Joe Smith, compered the evening. Joe reflected on the club’s founding in 1954 and praised all those who have made a significant contribution to our achievements since then.

BBC Scotland Broadcaster, and fanatic Motherwell supporter, Tam Cowan, topped the bill and raised side-splitting raucous laughter with his biting insight into all things Scottish Football. Tam mercilessly focussed on anyone who moved or caught his attention in any way.

Kevin Kyle, a man of many clubs, including star spells with both Rangers and Hearts, looked back on his playing career. Kevin highlighted golden moments and spoke honestly of mistakes he had made in the past, in an insightful and very personal story.

This was a great night and an evening of unapologetic nostalgia. It was a fitting celebration of 70 years as a club!
