Promotion set back

The Seconds were beaten for the first time this season but still hold onto a promotion spot - albeit now by only five points.

Chaddesley Corbett ran out convincing seven-wicket winners at St Peter's Fields - cantering home with 13 overs as they made relatively light work of overhauling Spa's meagre 130.

Droitwich lost their top order far too quickly after losing the toss and were then on the back foot.

Captain Karl Goddard top scored with 29 and took one of the three wickets to fall for the home side's only point on a very hot afternoon. Martin Woodward and Matt Gurr claimed the other two scalps but special mention for Joe Smith, who deserved a wicket for a very good spell on his second team debut.

A win for Belbroughton over promotion-chasing Netherton puts them 26 points clear of Droitwich, who are five points ahead of Enville - the victors in a 600-run game against Bromyard. Next week's opponents Bromsgrove enjoyed a convincing 75-run win over promotion rivals Cookley, who are tied in fourth with Netherton - 22 points behind the Spa.
