2nd XV v Quinns

The 2nd XV travelled to Belfast on Saturday for this Ulster Rugby Provincial League Div.1 game. They got off to a flying start when Dylan Cobb crashed over beside the posts for the opening score, Marcus Heath converting for a 7-0 lead. Dromore were dominating especially in the scrum and in open play continued to put Quins under pressure. As a result, when a defender fumbled a pass on his own line, Scotty Nelson was first to react and touched down for Dromore's second score, Marcus again adding the extras to make it 14-0. Shortly afterwards, Dromore were reduced to 14 men when hooker, Tom Lyttle was sin-binned for a high tackle. Quins came more into the game after this and reduced the deficit with an unconverted try to leave the half-time score 14-5.
The second half continued in the same vein, the Dromore pack in the ascendancy but two yellow cards in the space of a minute changed the complexion of the contest. First, #3 Adam Proctor received his marching orders for kicking the ball while it was still in the ruck and almost immediately, #4 Richard Dickson saw yellow for what the referee deemed a 'no arms' tackle. The home side took full advantage and scored two quick tries, the first being unconverted to leave the score 17-14 in their favour. Dromore managed to weather the remainder of the sin-bin period and just as Adam and Richard returned to the field a Quins player was given 10 minutes for stamping. Dromore took advantage of the extra man and Tom Lyttle crossed for their third try, Marcus this time missing the conversion to leave the score 19-17. Not long after, Quins kicked a penalty to swing the game back in their favour at 20-19 but the lads from Barban Hill never gave up. Late on, Adam Proctor came through a ruck, picked up the ball cleanly and sprinted away. Dromore recycled through the phases and eventually from a ruck on Quins goal line, Philly Lunn picked up and dove over uncontested for the bonus point try and what turned out to be the winning score once again ably converted by Marcus. What, had earlier appeared to be a comfortable afternoon for the 2's was made more difficult by the yellow cards but Geoff and the boys can be proud of the way they stuck to the task and came away with the BP win
