Club History

A non-league football club founded and created in 2019 by Liam Goodenough, better known as MR DT for his passionate rants about Arsenal Football Club. The club was initially formed as DT FC for a Youtube documentary that aired on Amazon Prime and was viewed by millions around the world, but due to its success and the love for the club that DT had developed, he decided to continue growing the club and exploring the possibility of becoming a non-league football club.

After overcoming many obstacles and many leagues refusing to accept us, we were finally accepted by the Essex Alliance Football League and become a Step 7 club in the process. In our opening match for the 2020/21 season we set out our intentions by winning 11-0 against Rapid Chingford, we then won our next 7 matches, scoring 47 goals in the process. The season was then halted due to the Covid outbreak and everything was put on hold, when football resumed we were invited to compete in the Essex Senior League Cup, but this was initially met with anger by some clubs as they did not think we were good enough for that level, yet despite playing teams two levels higher than us we reached the Quarter Finals, losing 2-1 to eventual winners Redbridge FC, we did not win the competition but we had shown what we were about as a club and that we were here to stay. Alongside this we were also competing in the Essex Alliance League Cup where we reached the final against Kit Out London, the match was played at Billericay Town and we won our first proper piece of silverware as a club winning 2-1 with an 89th-minute winner from Ayrton Coley.

The 2021/22 season did not get off to the best of starts with the club owner going on holiday for 14 months, so it was left to assistant managers Nick Jennings and Fadi Mazloum to take charge and the club started the season just as they finished it. After only 6 weeks of the season though, Fadi handed in his resignation and left the club after being offered the manager's position at Stevenage FC Ladies. The club set about finding a new manager to work alongside Nick Jennings and we appointed experienced manager Alan Fenn to take charge. We got off to a winning start and the wins just kept on coming, but behind the scenes, there were problems with Alan and some senior players not seeing eye to eye, it got to a point where the majority of the squad wanted to leave if he remained as manager. The club had to make a decision and after only 8 weeks the club sacked Alan from his role. We were once again looking for a new manager and shortly after Christmas, the club announced that Billy Cove would be the new manager. Once again the wins kept coming and despite the odd bump in the road, the club was able to achieve its ultimate goal which was to win the league and secure promotion to the Thurlow Nunn League (Step 6) Our season was not over though as we still had two Cup Finals to look forward to and a possible treble. In our opening final, we lost to Rapid Chingford and the unrest within the camp was sadly there for all to see, with another Cup Final only 7 days away Billy Cove decided to hand in his resignation, something that the club reluctantly accepted. Nick Jennings took charge for the Cup Final against Lymore Gardens which we won 3-2, securing the double in the process.

The club only had 4 weeks from the end of last season until the new one started and we did not even have a manager, or a team as the majority of our squad had now left and decided to not play football anymore. After numerous interviews by possible candidates, the club appointed a joint manager duo. We were sold a dream when in reality this was the beginning of a nightmare, it became apparent very quickly that the players they had brought in were simply not good enough for this level and we were going to struggle. More than 40 players were registered in just over 8 weeks with the club losing all of their pre-season matches and then their opening 6 league matches and playing some of the worst football it has ever seen.

With the club owner now back from his holiday he immediately sacked both managers, and turned to former player Steven Wade who stepped in and over a 4 week period has had to try and fix the mess we were left in, the club has released more than 30 players who were not needed and we have also employed Franco Zabotti to work alongside Steven in getting this club back to where it belongs. There's been a lot of change over the last month and the wins are starting to come, we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, we finally have a team that can compete and the future is looking promising once more.

For the 2023/24 season, Franco Zabotti was now the permanent manager, recruiting Ashley King from Barkingside as his head coach and Frankie Sinclair and Ross Mernick as his assistants. The club had its feel-good factor again, and we were looking forward to the new season ahead. We started the season with three wins on the bounce, and all looked good from the outside, but internally, something felt wrong. We approached September in a good position in the league, but an awful run of only three wins in 10 games, including a toothless FA VASE exit, was enough for the club owner to sack Franco Zabotti and make the changes that were desperately needed. The management team have stayed, as have the players, and since their appointment during the interim, we have started to play the football we know we are capable of and moved back up towards the top end of the table.

At the turn of 2024, and with the club contesting the playoff places, we appointed Marc Benterman as our new permanent manager. Marc has vast experience at this level, managing Halstead Town and guiding them to the brink of promotion in 2016. The 2017 season saw them go on a brilliant FA Cup run, beating higher-league opposition. Marc has also managed Stansted in the Essex Senior League, where they finished second in the 2018/19 season and won the Errington Challenge Cup and Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy to claim a memorable cup double. Since then, Marc has had spells at Basildon United and Witham Town in the Isthmian League and is now ready to get back to doing what he does best. Marc got straight to work, and despite some really good results we were to fall short of the play-offs by one point after conceding a last min goal in our final game of the season.

Marc will now regroup, and recruit his own team, and implement his own philosophy. We will learn from the experiences of the season, and be ready to go again in July.

Away from the pitch we have a social media reach of more than 700,000 followers across 5 platforms, and the potential to really grow the club.
