The Club was saddened to learn that two well-known Dulwich Hamlet players from the 1950s &1960s passed away towards the end of January.

Leslie Brown was arguably our finest player of the period. Joining the Club’s Juniors on leaving school, he went on to make 227 appearances and score 121 goals for the First Team. A bustling forward of considerable ability, he was our leading scorer in three successive seasons (1957/58, 1958/59 and 1959/60) and gained four England Amateur International Caps during his time with Dulwich. He was also selected for the Great Britain squad that travelled to Rome for the 1960 Olympic Games.

He left Dulwich midway through season 1961/62 to join Wimbledon and in 1963 he was a member of the Dons side that beat Sutton United 4-2 at Wembley Stadium to win the FA Amateur Cup.

Left-winger Terry Dobbs joined Dulwich at the beginning of the 1956/57 season after spells with Wimbledon and Bexleyheath & Welling. Terry made 147 First Team appearances for The Hamlet, scoring 34 goals, during his four years with the Club.

Both Leslie Brown and Terry Dobbs gained representative honours for the Isthmian League, London and Surrey during their Hamlet careers.

The Club offers its sincere condolences to the family and friends of both these former players.
