Ashley Maynard-Brewer has joined the club on a short-term loan from Charlton Athletic

The 20-year-old goalkeeper has just signed a 2-year contract extension with the Addicks and joins us on loan for 28 days. He made his Dulwich Hamlet debut on Saturday in our 2-1 win over Tonbridge Angels.

Speaking to Charlton’s official website last week, he said, “Ideally, [the goal is] to get as many games as possible on loan this season, then hopefully come back [to Charlton] towards the end and try and stake my claim as part of the first team squad.”

Maynard-Brewer was born in England but moved to Perth, Australia at a young age and came through the academy at local side ECU Joondalup Soccer Club, where Australian internationals Rhys Williams, Ryan Williams and Chris Herd also started their careers. There he was scouted by Charlton and signed for them in 2015 as a 14-year-old.

He has made one senior appearance for Charlton so far, against Swansea City in the EFL Trophy. Last season he had loan spells at two of our National League South rivals, Chelmsford City and Hampton & Richmond Borough. Maynard-Brewer also has International pedigree and has twice been on the bench for Australia’s U23s.

Manager Gavin Rose is pleased to have the young keeper with the team for a short spell. “He’s someone I looked at earlier on in the summer,” he said. “We’ve got a keeper we’ve already watched and seen, and know a bit about. We know he’s more than capable.”
