All weekend, TfL Rail inform us, there will be no trains will be running between Shenfield and London Liverpool Street. Replacement buses will run between Shenfield and Newbury Park (London Underground station), calling at Brentwood, Harold Wood, Gidea Park, Romford and Chadwell Heath. Valid rail tickets will be accepted on the London Underground Central Line between Newbury Park and London Liverpool Street.
From Newbury Park Underground Station (Zone 4 on the Central Line) rail replacement buses leave Newbury Park at 17, 37 & 57 mins past the hour. These buses from Newbury Park to Brentwood are shown as taking 40 mins with one change, whereas Newbury Park to Shenfield (the station after Brentwood) is shown as a direct bus taking 30 mins. Therefore, it would be advisable to take the faster bus to Shenfield, then get another bus back in the opposite direction to reach Brentwood where there is a wait of approximately 10 minutes before the replacement bus back towards Brentwood Station. From there Brentwood Town’s ground is about 20 mins walk though there are a number of hostelries in the vicinity to partake of refreshment before the yomp to the Brentwood Centre Arena. Brentwood is included within the Oyster network, Zone 9.
Hopefully these convoluted travel arrangements will not dissuade the hardened fans of the Hamlet from making the journey this Saturday and backing Dulwich back to winning ways.
