The first of these is midfielder Johl Powell, who arrives as a free agent. The 21-year-old has come through the Charlton Athletic academy as a youngster, making his senior debut for the Addicks in November 2020 in the EFL Trophy. The midfielder made a total of three appearances for Charlton before his release at the end of last season.

Johl also enjoyed a productive loan spell with Maidstone United at the end of last season, where he made eight appearances and scored a dramatic 96th minute winner in a 3-2 victory for the Stones against St Albans in March, with the Kent outfit going on to win the National League South.

The other player through the door is young goalkeeper Aaron Jones, who is also a free agent, having left AFC Wimbledon in the summer. The 18-year-old has been training with the side recently following the departure of Joe Osaghae, and will provide cover to Charlie Grainger in the Hamlet goal.

Aaron also picked up a league winners medal last year with the Dons Under 18s winning the EFL Under-19s Youth Alliance South East Conference title, finishing seven points clear of Southend United at the top.
