After four points from their opening two games, it has been none from the next two for the Hamlet, with back-to-back defeats in their last two Saturday matches.
After losing to Hastings last weekend, Hakan Hayrettin's side journeyed to Horsham 48 hours ago looking to bounce back, but would come away with nothing. The hosts went ahead from the penalty spot in the sixth minute, Jack Mazzone converting the spot kick that he had won, and it wouldn't be until the second half that we were able to level. Sanchez Ming scored a penalty of our own in the 63rd minute, before Ade Shokunbi netted his first Hamlet goal four minutes later, but after this the urgency went out of the Hamlet play and we would be punished. Firstly, Tom Richards swept home an equaliser with eight minutes remaining, and then four and a bit minutes into injury time, the Hornets would sting us again through Daniel Ajakaiye.
Today we will still be without Ryley Scott (hamstring) and Elliott Romain (ankle), but both will be available for next weekend's FA Cup tie with Haringey Borough. Anthony Jeffrey (back) could miss the next few weeks. R'avan Constable is also available for the first time this season following his four match ban from last season.
Our visitors by contrast have enjoyed a lightning start to their first year at Step 3. Four games played, four wins to sit second on goal difference from Enfield Town. This start comes after successive promotions in the past two seasons under chairman-manager Kevin Hake. Young forward Jamie Yila netted in their first three outings of the new season, whilst experienced head Danny Kedwell scored in their 2-0 win over Potters Bar Town two days ago.
Also netting in that game, his second of the season, was Ashley Nzala, who had a very short spell with us last season under Paul Barnes, scoring once against Chelsea U21s and playing six times. Also with the Chats this season is Kristian Campbell, who has been at the Hamlet on three short spells in the past, including the end of last season on loan from Dartford, making a total of 17 appearances.
This is our first meeting with Chatham since April 2011, when we earned a 5-2 scoreline on this ground in the Isthmian South. Our goals came from Dean Carpenter, Gerry Gonnella, Robert Gradwell, and a brace from Malvin Kamara. Our overall record against Chatham is as follows:
Head to Head: P9 W6 D2 L1 GF23 GA11
Home: P5 W3 D2 GF12 GA7
Biggest win: 5-2 (H) 2010-11
Biggest defeat: 2-3 (A) 2010-11
