DUNVANT MAKE 1st EVER VISIT TO BEDDAU RFC THIS SATURDAY (26th)

Roger Knight21 Nov 2016 - 14:59

Dunvant travel to Mount Pleasant Park for a 1st ever league game with 4th placed Beddau RFC, kick off 1.30 p.m.as per WRU instructions

We have never met Beddau in league or cup since the National leagues were formed in 1990-91. Beddau’s roots trace back to the early 1900’s but they were reformed in 1951-52 season.. In 2006-7 they were denied promotion to the Premiership because their facilities did not meet WRU criteria, a decision upheld by 67% of clubs at a WRU E.G.M. They entered the inaugural Championship league in 2012-13, were relegated in 2013-14 bouncing straight back by winning Division 1 East Central in 2014-15 and a play off match with Penallta. Last season they finished in 6th place. Currently they lie in 4th place with 3 home wins out of 4, the only home defeat being to Pontypool and they have won 3 out of 6 away games at Skewen, Narberth and Cardiff Met. Currently in 4th place they have 6 wins ,scored 30 tries, 262 points for and conceded 159 points.
Dunvant however sit in 11th place with only 2 wins yet have scored 28 tries (5th highest), 247 points for (5th highest) but defensively have been found wanting conceding 44 tries and 337 points, the worst in the league. Clearly Dunvant need to tighten up defensively if they want to start climbing up the table.
As per WRU instructions this game will kick off at 1.30 p.m.
Given all the International games on TV this weekend, it could lead to a number of stay at home supporters, but please do put on your hats, scarves and winter coats and make the journey if you can to support our boys, they really appreciate it. Don’t forget you red and green supporters- respect the Referee, respect the players, respect our opponents and enjoy the game, whatever the result, wherever you are.
