Eagle RUFC was formed in 1962 by a group of friends, some of whom worked in the local factory, and who felt it was time to establish a rugby union club in a rugby league heartland. The name Eagle, and the club motif, comes from the Eagle logo of one of those businesses, Rubery Owen, which has long since disappeared from its Great Sankey location.
From a one team club, Eagle grew, and in the late Eighties, were running three senior sides plus a vet’s team. The club currently has one team but is looking to rebuild again.
We are a community rugby club based in Warrington Cheshire UK. We compete in Lancashire Div1 which is an RFU accredited league. Currently we only have one team, however our aim is to have two teams and a colt’s team in the next three years. We are working with England Community Rugby Coaches to see this vision become a reality.
Our club helps with the clean-up operation at a local festival. We have participated in a tug of war contest for the last five years at a local community festival. We have an annual sportsman's dinner to keep non-playing members and sponsors involved at the club. At the 2018 sportsman's dinner our club raised over £600 for a local charity.
