Yesterday we welcome West Bergholt to the Recreation Ground for the opening game of the season, with the poor weather conditions throughout the first half, Colne took the lead when the West Bergholt keeper dropped the cross and Jack Charnock was there to tap home to grab his and Colne’s first goal of the new season.
An even first half ended with Colne ahead at the break, 6 minutes into the second half and our lead was doubled when Jack Charnock played in Connor Randall with an excellent pass and Connor calmly slotted underneath the keeper.
With 68 minutes on the clock, Bergholt striker Karl Andrade got one back for the visitors with a nice finish in the bottom right corner, 5 minutes later and Andrade had levelled things up with a powerful low effort into the bottom right corner.
In the end, it’s a good point and overall a fair result, a good competitive game against a very strong side who will be up there at the end of the season.
