Colne started Pre-Season with a home game against neighbors Gosfield United who play their football in Division One. We came away 2-1 winners, goals from Connor Randall and Jeffrey Ashong. It was a great workout for the lads and good to get some minutes in the tank. We thank Gosfield for coming over and wish them all the best for the season.
We then travelled to Essex Olympian Premier side Basildon Town, we came with a 1-1 draw. Our goal came late on in the second half from captain Jamie Hudson, another encouraging performance from the boys and most importantly more minutes in the tank. We thank Basildon for their hospitality and wish them well.
We were then due to travel to Thurlow South side Benfleet but due to a positive covid case in our camp, we decided to call the game off for the safety of both sets of players and staff.
Last night, we hosted Thurlow Nunn Premier side Long Melford, a slow start saw us go 1-0 down but the boys eventually grew into the game and levelled midway through the half from Charlie Baker, then second half goals from Jack Charnock, Ross Debrick and Will Harris saw us come away 4-1 winners. Another brilliant workout and performance, especially with a few players missing.
Next up, we host Holland Reserves this Friday evening (7pm), then we host Suffolk & Ipswich League side Claydon on Tuesday (7pm) and finally we travel to Southend to take on Catholic United on the 31st (2:30pm).
