Club Statement – Management Changes

Club Statement – Management Changes

Richard Lusmore10 Jun 2019 - 20:41

There will be new-look management structures in place at both Easington United Saturday teams in 2019/20.

Adam Jamieson has stood down from the First Team manager’s post after just the one season in charge. Admitting that he had struggled to combine both player and management roles, Adam told his players: “It’s been a huge learning curve and I’ve enjoyed it but right now I just want to focus on playing.” He thanked his players for their efforts over the season and finished by pledging his full support to his successor.
The identity of that successor was revealed tonight when Danny Blount was announced as the new player/manager. He will be assisted by Craig Foster with Luke Jeffery staying on as player/coach.
Unfortunately, new work commitments will prevent Dave Mackay-Dundas from being able to commit to continuing his matchday responsibilities next season.
Blount is relishing the chance to manage the club he first played for a decade ago, making his debut in February 2009. Manager’s Player of the year in 2010/11, he made 60 appearances for the club in the Central Midlands League before departing for Bottesford Town in the Northern Counties East League. He rejoined Easington briefly towards the end of the 2013/14 season before again plying his wares in the NCEL with Hall Road Rangers. Dual-registered for The Eastenders in 2015/16, Blount’s involvement was limited to one appearance in the South Holderness Cup but he eventually rejoined the club full-time last season.
With almost a century of appearances for the locals as a no-nonsense central defender, players and supporters can expect the same sort of approach to management. “I’m excited by the challenge”, says Blount who wants to build on the “good work” done by his predecessor: “I’m keen for us to kick on and mount a sustained challenge to get back up to the HPL Premier Division”. To this end he will be determined that his players “leave nothing out there” when pulling on an Easington shirt.
Incoming assistant-manager Craig Foster also brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, along with a place among the club’s playing hierarchy. A veteran of some 719 appearances and the club’s record goalscorer (460), Foster will also be determined to see the team leaves no stones unturned in their quest for success.
With a wealth of experience in the ranks, it is hoped that the new-look management duo can push on after a couple of seasons that have flattered to deceive, with runs to the semi-finals of the ERCFA Cup and some eye-catching results in the league evidence of a team that can compete with the best in the division.
There is also a new face in place at Reserves team level where Brad Bowden joins Rich Lusmore and Steve Spruce as part of a new three-man set-up.
The Committee would like to place on record its thanks to Adam and Dave for their efforts over the course of last season. In Adam's case we look forward to seeing you back on the field next season. Similarly, we hope to see Dave renew aquaintance with the club again in the not-too-distant future. Our best wishes go to Danny, Craig and Brad in their new roles.
The club are now actively seeking new players ahead of their forthcoming campaigns in the Humber Premier League and the East Riding County League.
Details of the first pre-season friendlies will be posted shortly.
