EAST HERTS YOUTH FC ON TOUR
SELSEY CUP CHAMPIONS 2016
In what was to be their final weekend in Red and Blue stripes before formaly transfering to pastures new, East Herts u12s brought their 6 year association with the club to an end with a wkend tour to Selsey and fittingly rounded it all off by being crowned winners and bringing the trophy back home with them. 33 players and an army of supporters decended upon the south coast to whitness all 3 Reds, Blues and Royals teams perform to the max. Highlightes included the Reds toping the group early on day 1 and Lewis Klodian arguably scoring the goal of the weekend. Meanwhile the Blues put in a solid weekend coming 3rd and being the only team in the group stage to beat eventual runners up
Wychall Wanderers. In a must win game the Blues put in an epic display to win 2-0 with keeper Ollie Bailes-Gallager outstanding and Max Frangiamore grabing a brace. Sadly that win was not quite enough to get the Blues into a dream all East Herts Final.
So whilst their club mates battled hard, despite an under par day 1 the Royals fairly comfortably got themselves into the Final to face the only team who had defeated them in the round robin stage and defending Champions from Birmingham Wychall Wanderers. Although a tense goaless 1st half the Royals had learnt their group stage defeat and were always in control, tight in defence and creating chances. Shortly into the 2nd half Casey Chandler broke the deadlock with a superb low drive from the edge of the box closely followed by the tournaments top scorer Alexander Pace grabing the second cooly finishing a one on one chance. A physical Whychall battled hard but were no match and Stef Georgiou sealed the 3-0 win to crown the Royals Champions and got the party started. This brings to an end a very successfull chapter for this u12 group of children gaining 15 trophies in their 6 years as East Herts Youth FC and will now hope to continue that as the newly formed Chars Youth FC.
