Travelling to Hill of Beath on any day of the week would be a hard task, but on a Tuesday night in October made it all the more difficult. With some players struggling to get across the bridge, it meant for a lack of options from the bench with manager David McQueenie and coach Gavin Tainsh taking their places on the bench.
For the visitor, it was a massive wakeup call as to how far away they are from the top sides in the East of Scotland after the heavy 8-1 defeat against a very slick Hill of Beath Hawthorn. A disappointing evening from start to finish seen the away sides goal difference to a massive dent after tonight’s defeat.
Unfortunately there will be no match report on the game and has nothing to do with the score line.
Hill of Beath were brilliant on the night from start to finish. They showed their qualities in every department with a very professional performance. Come the end of the season, they will certainly be up there contesting for top spot. Teams will have to play very well if they want to take anything from them.
Easthouses only consolation on the night was a goal from Gordon Wilson. A fantastic 30 yard strike left the keeper with no chance as it flew past him into the far corner. Although it counted for nothing, the full back raised a wee smile for what was a sweet strike.
As we’ve seen already in the East of Scotland league so far, a few teams have had heavy defeats and unfortunately, Easthouses have now tasted another after losing 7-1 to Newtongrange Star. The players will have to raise themselves for what will be a another difficult game as the side travel to face Leith Athletic this weekend. It doesn’t get any easier for the Midlothian side as Musselburgh and Penicuik also await in the month of October.
