It's not all about Rugby!

East Leake RFC were delighted to be given the opportunity to support the popular Village Open Gardens event.

This event has run for a number of years and this year 20 different style gardens were opened by garden enthusiasts across the village. There were also some wonderful scarecrow creations dotted around providing additional interest and a few laughs along the way for the many who came out on the day.

Transport was made available through the community bus which enabled everyone the opportunity to get around and see as many gardens as possible.

With a fantastic turnout on a lovely warm summer’s day the event was a great success, generating funds for both the Village Hall and the Rugby Club.

A huge thank you to the organising committee for organising and promoting entries, sorting and planning the maps, transport and manning the plant sale on the day, all of which made the event such an enjoyable and resounding success.

A big well done to Tom, Ed, Jack, Will and Rich who along with myself manned the programme tent for the duration of the event, allowing Mel to jump on the bus and act as conductor and tour guide for the day! Well done also to Spud and Liz, who opened up their beautiful garden on the day!

Here’s to our next event this Saturday when the Club will be running our annual Hog Roast and mini rugby challenge as part of the East Leake Carnival. We hope to see as many players and club members down there as possible. If everyone gives a couple of hours it helps share the workload and shows that we want to be part of our community both on and off the pitch.

Let’s keep supporting our village events whilst also helping raise funds for the Club.

It’s a winner both ways.

Roll on Saturday!

Best
