The backroom volunteers and management at Eaton Wanderers have been hard at work planning and organising a preseason schedule for the Yellaphants and now we can finally announce our preseason plans.
After Eaton's successful first season in the Central & South Norfolk League, gaining promotion from division 5 and reaching the semi-final of the shoe trades cup, Eaton's management has put together a preseason fixture list to continue pushing the boys to higher levels.
Preseason training will start at Eaton Park on Wednesday, June 1st and there will be two sessions a week (Wednesday 1830 and Saturday 1030) leading up to our friendlies.
Eaton starts preseason with a match against Division 4 side Bowthorpe Rovers, in a repeat of one of last season's preseason friendlies. We will be looking for a repeat result of the match which we won 3-1.
There will then be an Eaton Wanderers interclub match between all players involved at the club for both the Saturday and Sunday sides. A perfect opportunity for all players, old and new to push for places.
Our second friendly will be against Hornets FC who knocked us out of the league cup last season. A great test for our boys, facing a side from Division 3, in what should be a competitive game for all involved.
The competition then gets even tougher as we go up against Talcolneston Reserves from Division 2. This will definitely be a tough challenge for the Eaton Wanderer's lads to face!
Eaton Wanderer's final pre-season friendly will be against Horsham Athletic. A new side to the Central & South leagues. We have no idea what to expect and as last season has shown, the new sides can be as full of quality as the established teams.
With Eaton's league constitutions and start dates still to be announced, there may possibly be a few additional friendlies after this final game. However, based on last season, we will be expecting to start our season in early August. All games are currently scheduled for 1300 kick-offs, to be played at Barnham Broom Village Hall but keep your eyes on our Instagram page for any updates.
