The Eagles attacking-midfielder Khurram Shazad spoke to the club’s media after Eccleshill dropped out of the FA Vase.

The 27-year old gave his initial thoughts on the loss by saying “It’s hard to take when you play well.”

“In the first half I felt we didn't create enough chances but second half we created a lot more and sometimes you dominate games and it doesn't go your way and you just need a bit of luck, but it didn't come,” he also added.

The pacy attacker had a free-kick in the game which was awfully close to bringing the game level, Shazad gave his insight on the free-kick, and discussed if he felt any pressure.

Khurram explained: “To be honest I didn't feel the pressure because I know what I needed to do to keep it simple and perform every game like that and it's nice to get Man of The Match because even when you do lose and stuff you get recognised.

“But I think I need to be more clinical in the final third and hopefully contribute some goals and I'll feel like my game is even better.”

Furthermore, the former Pakistan under 19's star spoke about how he was feeling about returning to the pitch after a brief stint on holiday.

“It's alright, I thought I'd struggle with fitness, but I've done alright to be fair. I was alright first 15-20 minutes and then I thought I was going to struggle but after once I got into it I had to put a shift in and help the team and then you just don't think about it,” said Shazad.

Now Eccleshill United have exited out their second cup of the season, Shazad discussed the importance of making the league a priority. Also, talking briefly on the NCEL Cup which is the Eagles only cup left to participate in after exiting the Emirates FA Cup and FA Vase.

Shazad confidently saying: “Once you go out the cups you have to concentrate on the leagues and obviously the league has just started and there's a long way to go so we take every game as it comes.”

(Speaking on the NCEL Cup) “We just need to take our chances like I said and with a bit of luck just keep playing performance wise like we did today and hopefully we can go far and maybe win it.”

Turning attention back to the league, Khurram spoke about the ambitions for the NCEL Premier Division.

He said: “To be honest with you the games I've played in personally, and what I've read about, anybody can beat anybody on the day and we've just got to take every game as it comes and one game at a time and see what happens at the end of the season.”

Finally, the former professional footballer gave his thoughts on next Saturday’s opponents Goole AFC.

“We can get a result in every game if we go in with the right attitude and if we do then we can go there and get the result, and just beat them,” discussed Shazad.

The Napoleon's Man of The Match Khurram Shazad put in a stellar performance for The Eagles, however, it wasn’t enough to progress in the FA Vase.

Shazad will have a ‘Life In Football’ interview in an upcoming match programme, alongside Jassim Alali, Jack Bentley, and Jake Thompson. Future interviews on the ‘Life In Football’ topic have been planned.
