In very blustery conditions Ellingham & Ringwood Colts travelled to Fawley in a bid to maintain their unbeaten run in the league this season. With the conditions being far from ideal and with a number of senior players being unavailable this was always going to be a hard match as Fawley were also enjoying a good run this season having already triumphed over Eastleigh and Fareham Heathens.

However after 10 minutes Tom Malcom ran in a good try which was not converted only for Fawley to draw level 10 minutes later despite some valiant defending from Ellingham and Ringwood. Six minutes later Ryan Sellwood scored under the posts which was duly (and rather nonchalantly!) drop kicked for the conversion by Tom Malcom taking the score to 5-12. Ten minutes later some very quick handling from the backs which was fantastic to watch saw Tom Baldwin run in a try “straight from the training field….” from almost half way straight under the posts which was again converted by Tom Malcom to take the score to 5-19.

After half time Tom Baldwin ran in his second try of the game which was not converted taking the score to 5-24. After a period of sustained pressure Fawley then scored a converted try to take the score to 12-24. Ellingham replied with Ryan Sellwood scoring his second try of the afternoon which moved the score onto 12-29.

With the quick handling and a fast running game that is the trademark of this team the chance of an interception in these windy conditions was always a danger and this is what occurred with Fawley intercepting a pass just inside our half - a powerful run led to a converted try for the last score of the match with the game finishing 19-29 – a great squad performance.
