Enfield Borough displayed remarkable resilience, securing a thrilling 4-3 victory over FC Baresi. Despite a shaky start, Borough’s fighting spirit saw them come from behind to take control of the match before a nervy finish.
It was a disappointing beginning for Borough, as a basic defensive error led to FC Baresi scoring just five minutes into the game, giving them an early 1-0 lead.
However, Borough quickly responded with a spirited performance. Persistent pressure paid off when Alex Lawler's effort forced a save, allowing Marco Magunga to tap in the rebound, making it 1-1.
Borough then took the lead through a moment of magic from Kyle Finlayter-Lynch, who earned a free-kick 20 yards out. Maka stepped up and curled a superb strike into the top corner, putting Borough 2-1 ahead.
The momentum continued to swing Borough’s way, with excellent combination play around the box. Marco flashed the ball across the area, and Kyle dispatched a clean volley to extend the lead to 3-1.
Baresi fought back and managed to pull a goal back from a simple throw-in, with the ball bouncing around the box before being tucked away to make it 3-2.
Undeterred, Borough struck again to go 4-2 up. Kyle was in the right place to finish off another excellent move, scoring his second goal of the game with a composed volley.
However, a late error in midfield left Borough vulnerable, and FC Baresi capitalised, scoring to make it 4-3 and setting up a tense final few minutes. Despite the pressure, Borough held on to secure a hard-fought victory.
This result will give Borough a boost as they prepare for their next fixture against Brook House in the Middlesex Cup, taking away plenty of positives from a gutsy performance.
