Match report

Eynesbury Rovers suffered their sixth home league defeat of the season as they went down 2-0 to Deeping Rangers. They were left to rue a 55th minute penalty miss by Dan Draper that would have drawn them level and could have changed the course of the game. Rangers added their second deep into stoppage time as Rovers pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
The visitors suffered the blow of losing Cameron Johnson through a hamstring injury just ten minutes into the game and he was replaced with Jonny Lockie. Three minutes later Dan Schiavi struck the bar with his shot as Rovers appealed for handball. Deeping took the lead in the 24th minute when Scott Mooney’s shot went through the hands of Aaron Butcher in the Eynesbury goal.
Rovers responded well and Draper saw his header come off a defender and go behind for a corner kick whilst a James Ducket shot was cleared as Rovers appealed for a penalty as Craig Smith went down in the box. In a rapid counter attack Craig Smith and Jordan Brown had their shots parried by visiting goalkeeper Lewis Elsom and then Dan Draper followed up but his shot struck the post.
Rovers kept up the pressure after the break with Brown bringing a fine save out of Elsom whilst a quick break by Deeping finished with Schiavi feeding Dan Jarvis but he shot wide of the near post. Rovers were then given a chance to equalise when Henry Dunn brought down Curtis Hartley inside the box. However, Draper fired his penalty kick low and wide.
There were few chances for either side after that with Burton-Jones heading wide from a Schiavi free kick for Rangers whilst a Steve Gentle header for Rovers was held by Elsom. Brown came close but his low drive was saved by the feet of the ‘keeper.
Three minutes into stoppage time Schiavi scored Deepings’ second goal following a quick counter attack as Eynesbury pushed men forward in search of an equalising goal
