FAIRFORD Town secured a place in the first round proper of the Buildbase FA Vase thanks to a 3-1 win at Fleet Spurs on Saturday.
After a dramatic, last-gasp comeback in the first qualifying round stage, the visitors were out to make life a little easier this time around.
Gareth Davies brought Chris Jackson and Sam Ockwell into the line-up and his side had to wait until just before the interval for the deadlock was broken. Lee Smith converted a cross from Josh Morse for a 1-0 lead.
A tense second half saw both sides take the game to each other but when Jack Ellis made it 2-0, Fairford had sight of Monday’s Wembley draw.
A penalty saw the home side reduce the arrears through Knowles, but Morse made the game saw – beating the offside trap to finish in style and round off a good afternoon’s work and a 3-1 away win.
