New Management team off to winning start.

Burghclere Sports new management team got off to a winning start when they faced a young Lambourn team this weekend. In a game that Burghclere controlled but never really managed to kill off spirited opposition. Burghclere grabbed an early lead when Matthews raced clear of the Lambourn back line and lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper inside the opening 5 minutes. The lead was short lived when a cross from the right was bravely met by the head of Annetts just ahead of Charlie McCready (The 16 year keeper old making his league debut for the club) in the Burghclere goal and the scores were level.
Burghclere wasted a few half chances as Lambourn dug in so it was set piece specialist Jamie Gannon who fired Burghclere back into the lead just before the break. A stunning 25 yard free kick over the wall and into the top corner that left the Lambourn keeper stranded.
HT 2-1

Burghclere came out fired up for the second half, Wickens and Connors looking dangerous wide it wasn't long before they stretched the lead. A quick passing move down the right and Pedder (Also making his debut) whipped the ball in from for Gannon who timed his run perfectly to head home from close range.
Burghclere strongly on the front foot now and it wasn't long before the 4th goal came. Connors beat his man wide on the right and the former Lambourn man picked out Matthews in the middle to nod home his second of the game. Burghclere should have had the game wrapped up now but a defensive mix up gifted Dundas a chance and the big striker made no mistake slotting the ball home. A goal the strikers performance deserved, A real shining light in this Lambourn team.
Burghclere created and wasted a couple of chances and this seemed to give hope to the boys from the Valley.
Lambourn youngster Di Silva lashed the ball past McCready from 20 yards with ten minutes remaining it looked like the grandstand finish could be on. It wasn't to be and Burghclere showed the experience difference between the two sides and managed to see out the game and get new Manager Martyn Benson off to a winning start.

MOM Taylor.
