Town left to rue missed chances!

Town went into this game in good spirits after recording a fine win away to Cheadle Town and started the game brightly. Good play down both wings were causing the Eccelshall defence problems that finally led to Lewis Jarmin finishing a fine move from just inside the penalty pox after 10 minutes. Chances kept coming but Town players kept missing the target and should have put this game out of sight early doors. It was Eccelshall though that scored next through their captain on 40 mins to see both teams going in level at half time.

Eccelshall that started the second half well and created the early chances and were putting the Town defence under pressure. And it was on 60 minutes that Eccelshall took the lead and rocked the home crowd. Town made some attacking substitutes with Shaun Melusi and Harrison Millington started causing problems for the away defence. Despite constant pressure it seemed as though it was going to end in a defeat but Harrision Millington picked up the ball just inside the right hand side of the box and lashed it into the back of the net on 85 mins. Town still had time the threaten the Eccelshall goal but were unable to get a winner.

At the end of the game manager Dan Stevens said "the game should have been won inside 30 minutes but we failed to score the chances we created. The team showed character to come back but we need to learn from tonight and make sure we finish teams off when we have the opportunity."

Town have another home game Saturday in the Hallmark Security League Division 1 against West Yorkshire side Silsden AFC and will be looking to win their first home game of the season. KO 3pm and your support is always appreciated.
