Charity provides advice and support for everyone affected by a parent's drinking

You are not alone!
- Nacoa

Everyone is happy to see the club linking up with Nacoa. The National Association for Children of Alcoholics is here to address the needs of children growing up in families where one or both parents suffer from alcoholism or a similar addictive problem.

Nacoa has four broad aims:

1. To offer information, advice and support to children of alcohol-dependent parents
2. To reach professionals who work with them
3. To raise their profile in the public consciousness
4. To promote research into the problems they face and the prevention of alcoholism
developing in this vulnerable group

About 1 in 5 children in the UK are affected by their parents' drinking. With the help of their amazing patrons like Calum Best (son of footballing legend George Best), Tony Adams (66 caps for England) or Liam Byrne MP, Nacoa offers vital help for families affected whilst simultaneously raising awareness of the problems alcoholism can cause.

Read this statement from their website:
'Alcohol problems often become the family secret, hidden from the outside world. This leaves children isolated and alone with no one to turn to.
We are here to help.
Together we can give them the chance of a brighter future.
'

As a club we will raise awareness of Nacoas work over the course of the 21/22 season. We are also delighted to announce that the Nacoa logo will be prominent on the back of our home shirt, just above the players numbers. Another reason to wear the shirt with pride!
A few players will also take on the Bristol half marathon September to raise funds for Nacoa. Please see details on how to donate or support closer to the day. Posters, cards and leaflets will be distributed at club events such as the AGM or the Club fundraiser in August.

Please come and speak to any of the committee members or check our social media feeds for further info on this new partnership. You can also find a link to Nacoas website within the 'sponsor' section of our website. You will also find the 'Some mums and dads drink too much' brochure in our 'documents' section.
