Combined Counties Premier North Division
FT/ Flackwell Heath 1 - 0 Holyport FC
27' W. Makowski (Pen)
Att, 301
Another superb home crowd turned out to watch this wind swept local derby.
The Heathens kicked off with the wind at their backs but in all honesty it was neither an advantage or disadvantage, the swirling wind making it difficult for both teams on the day.
An even first 20 minutes with both sides struggling to take a foothold in the game, it wasn't until the 27th minute when Jethro Odumosu produced a trademark burst in to the box, a clumsy challenge from behind brought him down. After a moment's pause the Referee pointed to the spot.
The inform Wictor Makowski stepped up and sent the ball in to the bottom right corner, the Keeper guessed the right way but the pace and provision of the strike made it unstoppable.
The remainder of the half was a blustery affair with with a lot of stop starts due to fouls.
The second half was much of the same, a lot of niggly fouls and both sides struggling top get the ball down and play.
Makowski will be disappointed with three or four good chances you would have expected him to score.
Michael Harding returning from injury came off the substitutes bench and got in to some good positions, another positive to take from the game.
It wasn't a classic but sometimes you have to win ugly.
Three points in the bag and the Heathens stay top of the table.
Next up.... this Saturday (13th) the Reds travel to Bedfont Sports FC, this will be a tough test and the boys will need to step it up to come away with anything.
