The kick off for the game was delayed by 30 minutes, due to an un-foreseen change of referee, and special thanks must go to Wiremu Comp who stepped in at the very last minute to ensure the game went ahead and officiated the game excellently.
Lowca started the game the more lively of the two teams, and with Flimby giving away a string of silly penalties it was the Lowca Prop John Tinnesen who crossed the line first on 16 minutes the try was converted by Fullback Callum Sirkett.
On 22 minutes Flimby pulled back 4 points when Ryan Williams took a nice ball from Lewis Crellin, and with defenders bouncing off him he dived over for the first of his hat trick, but Lowca hit back almost immediately through Centre Paul McNally also scoring the first of his hat trick, Sirkett again converted and gave Lowca a 12-4 half time lead.
Lowca started the second half of the game pretty much the same as the first with Centre Paul McNally crossing on 48 minutes quickly followed on 52 minutes when Callum Sirkett crossed, both were converted by Sirkett and gave Lowca a healthy 24-4 lead over the visitors.
On 57 minutes a storming run from Prop Ryan Williams produced his second of the afternoon, the deficit was then reduced to 8 points on 64 minutes when Williams completed his Hat trick, both tries were converted by David Miller.
On 81 minutes, Lowca increased their lead further following a penalty goal for a high tackle by a Flimby defender, this was quickly followed by a gift try for Lowca when following a kick through the Flimby defenders failed to make the ball safe and Lowca’s Centre Paul Mcnally ran through and gathered the ball beautifully to cross the line and complete his hat trick, the kick was wide but Lowca now had a 14 point cushion with less than 10 minutes of the game remaining.
With Flimby’s Darren Degraff and Oscar Harris working tirelessly in defence throughout the game, The final word of the afternoon went to Flimby’s Grant Underwood right on full time, when with Flimby camped on the Lowca Line he received a long pass to fall over the line and score, the try was converted but it was too little too late for Flimby and gave a final score of Lowca 30 Flimby 22.
