Boys took on a very good and well organised Westhoughton Team today. Competed well early on in contest but Westhoughton’s speed and organisation around ruck allowed them to run away with score.
When the lads showed more courage with ball in hand and got away from the ruck area, they then asked questions of Westhoughton team with their ball movement, but needed to do this more often and be a little more rugby smart when put under pressure. This should hopefully improve the more we play against good opposition.
Freddie Roughley got on the score sheet in 1st half with a good individual blind side scoot from dummy half. This was followed by Robin Cronshaws try in 2nd half which was worked well by both George Cahill and Neo Smith taking the ball to line and creating space for one another to feed Robin the ball in space on the edge. Both tries were converted by Fred and George respectively.
Hopefully the three pre season friendlies we have had will set us up nicely going into the new season next week.
