The Gladiators are currently two places and two points behind the Blues in the Premier Division table but have played two matches more. The last month has seen Matlock enjoy mixed results with good home wins over Ashton United and Rushall Olympic at the start of the month but they have lost to strugglers Whitby Town and Stamford in recent weeks. Last weekend they progressed in the FA Trophy, defeating Gresley.

The two teams met at the SW Jackson Utilities Stadium in the opening game of the season with Matlock snatching all three points with two late goals after Jameel Ible looked set to have earned the Blues the win with a 77th minute goal.

Manager Karl Rose will be without the suspended pair of Luke Hinsley and Zeph Thomas who have both reached 5 cautions for the season. On the positive side, Royale Johnson may be fit enough to return to the squad.
