Garswood welcomed Cadishead to Birch Grove for their 2nd meeting of the season. A warm and dry day meant it had the makings for some entertaining rugby which would hopefully see Garswood put amends to a loss to Cadishead earlier in the season.

Garswood received the ball from the kick off and completed their first set, but when defending for the first time gave a penalty away giving up early field position. Fortunately Cadishead forced a forward pass on the fourth tackle. Garswood made inroads up field and forced Cadishead to give away successive penalties for offside and not releasing. From this the pressure told and Garswood swung the ball left to see Scott Whittle score in the corner. Kick unconverted, 4-0.

From the kick off, both sides show strong defence and are forcing mistakes, but neither team get any great attacking opportunities. A good kick to touch on the last sees Cadishead starting from their own 10m line. A towering bomb on the last is spilled by Garswood and the Cadishead chasers pick up and core at the side of the posts. Conversion successful, 4-6 Cadishead.

Cadishead complete their next set but spill the ball after Garswood put their own high kick up to test the fullback. Garswood knock on over the line towards the end of the set, Cadishead complete their next set but give a penalty away for holding down after another towering bomb was taken and the defenders failed to release. From the tap Wayne Bullough gets a great offload away with four defenders round him and captain Greg Brown goes in under the posts. Try converted - Garswood lead 10-6.

Cadishead have a bit of pressure on the Garswood line after a few basic sets from either side. They aren't able to create anything and this brings up half time. Garswood 10-6 - Cadishead.

Garswood kicked to Cadishead to start the 2nd half and forced and early error, whilst attacking the Cadishead line, a long ball was intercepted and Cadishead went the length to score. Try unconverted, 10-10 Cadishead.

Cadishead have some momentum now and make a break, good cover defence holds them out but late in the set Garswood concede a penalty. From the resulting tap, Cadishead force some offloads and outnumber Garswood to go in out wide. Try unconverted - 10-14 Cadishead.

The next 20 minutes sees a lot of errors and penalties given away by both sides, looking to score to give themselves a chance of a win. With neither side threatening the line, Garswood give the ball away on their own 30m line, from the next set Cadishead run it on the last and crash over from short range. Try converted, Cadishead lead 20-10.

As Garswood try to chase the game, they end up giving away back to back penalites, Cadishead take the two and run the clock down.
