A cool evening and a sloping pitch welcomed Gedling to a midweek away game at Selston and it was
the home side that started the game on the front foot. A number of fine 1 st half saves from Josh
Mitchell kept us in the tie and earned him the man of the match award.
The entirety of the first period was scrappy and The Miners struggled against both the home teams
energetic pressing and the hill they were playing up.
We did create a couple of good chances with the home custodian making fine saves from both Kizza
and Muta, who both had raced through for one on ones with the keeper. The cheers of the travelling
fans on 39 mins were silenced after Liams close range finish was ruled out for offside.
Whatever Ruben said at half time quickly reaped its rewards as Gizza smashed home his 1 st of the
season on 53 minutes. This seemed to relax the whole side and we then went on to dominate the
game, using the ball very well and scoring some wonderful goals.
The second goal came on 65 mins when captain Josh fired in a rebound following some very good
work from Muta. Thornton celebrated in front of his personal fan club whose chanting made for a
very enjoyable evening!
Selston did manage a little fightback when on 78 mins when a shot was wickedly deflected past Josh.
This was the only way they were going to beat him on his current form, and this only served to fuel a
tremendous last period for us.
On 82 mins Cedric picked up the ball on the halfway line, ran the length of the right wing whilst the
home midfield bounced off him, he then cut in and smashed the ball into the top corner for his first
career goal for us. 5 minutes later and the gaffer grabbed himself a goal. Kizza, with another great
break through the middle of the pitch, drew the keeper out and slotted a ball through for Rubes to
tuck away.
Our 5 th came in the 90 th minute with Kizza scoring his now regulation net buster. He now has scored
in our last four games and has eight for the season.

Overall a very enjoyable trip was had by all and we hope this fine form continues into Saturdays home game v Lutterworth.
