The “Pink Game” fro Breast Cancer Care being arranged by Glapwell FC for this Saturday at Field Mill, Mansfield is building up a head of steam and gathering support from right across the East Midlands region.

Glapwell FC take on Leek Town at 3pm at Field Mill this Saturday playing in a bright pink strip as it tries to help local charity supporters raise cash for Breast Cancer Care.

To add further colour to the game Trent Barton Pronto bus company has agreed transport the Leek Town FC team and its supporters on one of its Pink busses to and from the game for free.

“We approached Trent Barton Pronto to see if they wanted to get involved and to be fair, even though the company was positive from the start we never thought it would go this far! As a result of Trent Barton Pronto’s great generosity Leek Town will be making a donation of around £300 to the charity on the day. This is great generosity by Trent Barton Pronto and Leek Town and shows what care there is out there in the community.

“We are hoping to be able to donate over £1000 to the charity at the end of the match which is why we are encouraging as many people to come to the game as possible. We have cut the gate price by a 2/3 to a flat £2 so people can watch a good quality game of football and still have change to donate to the charity,” said Graham Parker, Marketing Manager for Glapwell FC.

When Glapwell FC found out that one of its sponsors, Lambs at the Market, was engaged in fund raising campaign for Breast Cancer Care it decided to see what it could do to help. It worked with the FA and the Evostick League to allow the team to play in a pink strip and thanks to the support of 18 different local businesses and their sponsorship it was able to buy the shirts.

Several of the shirts will be made available for auction at the end of the game so that more funds can be raised for Breast Cancer Care. Even before the game kicks off Glapwell FC believes it will have raised approximately £400 through its own efforts but the day is not about the Glapwell FC, it’s about helping a local fundraiser support a worthy charity.

On the day people attending the game will have the chance to win a ride for eight people in a bright pink stretched Hummer Limousine – with champagne thrown in; all thanks to A Purrfect Stretch Limousine Hire.

“It’s not often you get the chance to paint the town red never mind pink but we certainly trying our best. Glapwell FC is a community based club at heart and we try wherever we can to support the people and good causes in our community,” said Graham Parker, Marketing Manager for Glapwell FC.

Breast Cancer Care girls dressed in pink will be collecting funds at the match.
