Glossop North End is proud to announce record breaking financial figures for its 2019 Beer Festival, with last weekend’s event bringing the highest revenue and overall profit figures at any of the eight festivals held since 2012. Factors behind this year’s positive results include an extensive print media and digital promotional campaign, an eclectic range of
ales on offer which widened the taste buds of even the most experienced beer drinkers, a gin and prosecco bar, as well as added support from the local community.
The event got off to a great start on Friday evening with plenty of early visitors keen to sample all that this year’s festival had to offer. Whilst our Elvis tribute act wowed visitors into the late evening with a range of classic hits.
Saturday got off to a great start with music group, ‘Just Good Friends’ performing timeless
country and western hits for visitors over their 3 sets. There was also action from the
superlative Bom Bom Fitness Dance Troupe who performed multiple routines to entertain
the large crowd.
Light rain began to settle in during the late afternoon, but this did little to dampen the
spirits of the beer festival visitors who came in numbers. Our George Formby tribute act got the crowd going with a plethora of his Ukulele themed tunes, before the comedy duo ‘The Ronaldos’ took us into the late evening with their authentic wit, humour and songs.
The club hopes that this year’s positive results provide a springboard on which to further
grow the event’s popularity and its target audience. The club would like to take the
opportunity to thank all the helpers and volunteers who helped us make this brilliant event
what it is. From the people that helped plan the event to the people that helped on the bar,
you all helped make the difference and pulled it all together.
The club would also like to thank all the beer barrel sponsors, as well as offering its sincere
thanks to Howarth Timber who kindly sponsored the bar at this year’s event. Also, a big
thanks as always to the 1st Hadfield Scout Group for lending their marquees to us for the
event. Finally a big thanks to Whitfield St James school for the loan of the stage.
The date for the next festival is already set, as always it will be taking place over the May
Bank Holiday weekend of Friday 22nd May and Saturday 23rd May 2020. We hope to see as many of you as possible returning to the Glossop North End beer festival for what we are sure will be another successful event next year.
