Sam Barratt shall remain at Glossop North End for his second season, after committing his future to the club for the upcoming season!
A versatile defender who is normally a right back but can also play centre half, or even further up the pitch in a midfield role, Sam is excited by the project underway at GNE and his commitment is shown in him agreeing to stay on at Glossop North End.
Sam made his GNE debut in a midweek away trip to City Of Liverpool last August, in which the Hillmen drew 1-1, Sam then suffered a shoulder injury in the home game vs Clitheroe last August but returning quickly to make his mark in the squad from September onwards. Sam went on to make 32 appearances for GNE last season, in which he scored 2 goals, the first of which being a long range thunderbolt of a shot to open the scoring at home to Workington.
We are looking forward to seeing Sam's advances and development as a player as he goes into this second season in the NPL and we're delighted that he is to stay with GNE.
Upon securing Sam for another season at GNE, manager Stuart Mellish said, ''Its a massive plus point that Sam has committed to another season. Another play who will undoubtedly play at a much higher level. I'm just very pleased that Sam knows what type of environment and atmosphere we are trying to achieve here and he buys into that , and he wants to continue his football development with us''.
