Under 10's , Pride of Glossopdale

Glossop under 10’s (2014-2015 season) entered a Blue’s and White’s side into the Tintwistle Tournament for the first time for this group of players. (No idea why they were listed as Bull’s and Ram’s ?!)

Matthew Vennard took the reins of the Whites side and were drawn in a group with a side from Gamesley, Tinny, Hillgate and Stockport Dynamoes. The team consisted of Tommy , Oliver, James, Adam, Joe, Cole, Harry and Cameron and made a good start to the Tournoi .

They won 2, drew one and narrowly lost in the last game in the last minute which meant they were in a penalty play off ( no idea why goal difference wasn’t used but hey ho !) and unfortunately did not progress through the group . They played some fine football on the day, scored lots of goals and enjoyed the day, just some work on penna’s !

The Blue’s started more slowly drawing the first two games against New Mills and an exciting Ardwick team, despite dominating both games and not conceding. They went on to win their next two games comfortably against Tinny and Gamesley but bizarrely needed to rely on a win from New Mills or Ardwick to qualify.
The side consisted of McKenzie, James C, Ollie, Jo Jo, Teddy, Charlie, Lewis , Jack and Austin.

In the semi the Blue’s faced Hillgate and played some great football but could’nt find the net so penalties followed, converting 4 out of 5 and progressing to the final against the other Tinny side.
Glossop saved their best performance for this goal and played some excellent football ending up 2 nil winners which could have been many more , not conceding a goal all day . Tinny have to take credit for making the final and putting in a spirited display at the end of a long afternoon for both sides.

All that was left to do was to pick up their Trophy and celebrate another tournament win. Applauding the runners up and thanking the referee’s at the end was perhaps the real winning moment and the boys showed great character coming through when it really mattered.

Well done to both sides who took part, 18 players and great support from family and friends on the day , thanks also to Tinny for organising the day and particularly the other Glossop Juniors coaches who came to support us in the final !
