1ST JUN - OLD GODS WIN WORTHING TOURNAMENT

A bright and sunny day on the South coast for the inaugural Worthing Walking Football Tournament. With 4 consecutive competition playing days, it was a busy time for the Gods so the squads were stretched for both 50s and 60s.

The 60s started with one of those matches, losing 1-0 to Arun after being the dominate team, but after that it was 4 group wins on the trot to seal a semi final place. A few familiar faces in the Frimley and Cove side, but a 2-0 victory with goals from Mike and Jim saw Godalming into the final., where Worthing Blacks were waiting.
A good competitive final, saw the Old Gods create more chances than their opponents and a well taken goal by Jim was enough to lift the trophy.

The 50s, with a new look squad, did really well in what was a faster version of the game!
Two win in the group stages against Eastbourne and Portsmouth, saw them finish 3rd in the group, therefore qualifying for the Plate Competition. In the semi final it was a game against our friends from Dorking Wanderers. A good game saw the Gods come away with a 2-0 victory, with Trev and Tim scoring. The Final against Havant was end to end, with Havant winning 2-1, after Trev had equalised.
