The Boysie would like to thank all of the candidates who applied for the popular position which attracted an unprecedented amount of interest across the North East.
Having extensively reviewed the applications in a high calibre field, the club is pleased to now be in a position to entrust Curtis with the role this evening having been impressed with his footballing philosophy and the leadership qualities he showcased as part of the interim management team.
Speaking about his excitement of taking the position Curtis said: "I am thrilled to step into the role of manager at Grangetown Boys Club.
"I’m excited to bring my knowledge and vast experience to help develop and strengthen our squad, building on the great foundation that’s already in place.
"Our fans are nothing short of brilliant—so dedicated and diverse, spanning all ages and travelling from near and far — I can’t wait to see and hear their continued support, which means so much to us all.
"With a fantastic blend of young talent and experienced players in our team, I’m eager to bring out the best in each of them, both individually and together as a unit.
"I thoroughly understand what this club means to the community and what the community means to the club, and sticking together as one, with the correct mentality will ensure we have a successful season.
"I look forward to getting started!"
Echoing Curtis, the club believe that this appointment will provide continuity, stability, and allow us to build upon the solid foundations laid down by the previous management team.
Curtis brings a wealth of experience having come through the Boro and Bradford City academies and formed part of the defensive backlines of numerous Northern League teams over the years including Marske United, Billingham Synthonia and Norton & Stockton Ancients.
Having signed for the Boysie in the summer, Curtis made his Grangetown debut against Great Ayton in pre-season, impressing straight away with back-to-back Man of the Match awards in our opening leagues games against Prudhoe and Jarrow at the start of the campaign. The right-back has also found himself on the scoresheet with a well received 96th minute last grasp winner against Boldon.
With the support of the first team and the club’s hard-working volunteers, we believe this appointment will galvanise the club in achieving our targets. The core objective for the season remains the same. Our aim is to try stay up with a sustainable budget, utilising the core squad who helped us to achieve promotion, supplemented with targeted additions and exciting talents from the Boysie junior & reserve teams.
Naturally with a changing of the guard, there have been some departures for pastures new, players who we thank for their service and wish all the best for the future. Yet change brings opportunity, both for our recent arrivals as well as other members of the team to seize their chance and stake their place in the side.
This is an exciting period for the club, and through hard-work, determination and sticking together we can succeed in showcasing the best of ‘the Boysie Way’. So we would like to thank all the fans for their patience and support during a rollercoaster few weeks.
Whether you are one of our 200+ season ticket holders, a regular watcher, or a well-wisher from afar, the team feeds and thrives off your energy, and we would like to invite everyone to join us in getting behind Curtis and the lads for the rest of the season.
