Greenock returned to league action for the 1st time since early September with the visit of Cambusnethan Talbot. With the adverse weather again affecting most, this match was switched to Greenock's home tie and went ahead on the 3G at Inverclyde Academy.
Greenock went into this match minus Andy Anderson who was ill. Paul Queen and Chris McAllister came into the starting line up as Greenock reverted to 3-5-2.
The 1st 10 minutes of the match produced little of note as the teams eased themselves in. The visitors drew 1st blood when they took the lead shortly after this. Greenock lost possession in the middle of the park and Cambusnethan’s centre mid sent an inch perfect ball in behind the Greenock defence for the nippy wee striker to latch onto. He shrugged off the attentions of Dave MacLeod before striking low into Jonas Andersen’s bottom right hand corner from inside the box.
This early setback only served to kick Greenock into action as they went in search of an equaliser. Greenock began to take control of the game and deservedly equalised 25 minutes in with a great goal. It started from Barry Munro deep in his own half. He fed Gary Loughran down the left who sped away from his marker and drove into the box. Munro made a lung busting run to get up with Loughran and he casually squared for Munro to fire home from 12 yards out.
Greenock were well on top at this point and the Cambusnethan keeper was called upon a few times to repel efforts from Loughran, McColgan and McClure.
With half time approaching Greenock got themselves into the lead. Jamie Bradley sent the ball through for Mick McColgan; he composed himself as he entered the box before burying his effort low into the keeper’s right hand corner.
The half time whistle blew shortly after and Greenock went in deservedly ahead

The 2nd half saw the visitors exert some pressure straight from the whistle. Greenock spent long spells on the back foot against an impressive Cambusnethan and were let off the hook on a couple of occasions when the big striker failed to hit the target from close range.
Despite being under pressure Greenock were still creating good chances and Davie McClure was twice thwarted by the visiting keeper, when he probably should have scored.
As the game entered the final stages the match was getting stretched as Cambusnethan pushed for an equaliser with Greenock still creating some really good chances.
With 10 minutes left Greenock got that 2 goal cushion they craved when Ross Walker fed Jamie Bradley in the box. He skipped away from 2 challenges before sitting the keeper down and rolling into his bottom left hand corner.
Cambusnethan continued to push on but Greenock stood strong for a hard fought but deserved victory against there impressive visitors.
