After a dour affair the week before Greenock looked horns again with Overtown this time on the massive 3G at Parklea Stadium.
Greenock made 1 change to there starting lineup with Gary Loughran coming in for the missing Chris McFarlane. Neil Rankin and David MacLeod returned to the squad.
Greenock came out the traps flying in this game and were ahead inside 5 minutes when Stevie Greenlees Bulleted home a great corner delivery from Gary Loughran.
It was one way traffic in the early stages and the Overtown keeper was twice called into action to repel powerful striked from Stephen Burden. Michael McColgan then had a good effort saved. The game settled down a bit after 20 minutes of so and Overtown came into the match. Around 35 minutes in and the scores were level when a Deep cross into the box was misjudged by Nixon and he lost control of the ball leaving the Overtown player with the simple task of knocking into the unguarded net.
Greenock went forward again and grabbed the lead again before half time with a little by of fortune. Greenock worked it well down the right and was cut back to met on the stretch by Kevin Brown whose effort was helped into the net by an attempted clearance from an Overtown defender

Greenock extended there advantage 5 minutes into the 2nd half when Overtown passed up a couple of chances to clear there lines and when the ball found it's way to Kevin brown 6 yards out he made no mistake in smashing home.
The match was stretched in the 2nd period and Overtown committed more bodies forward. They had a couple of more than decent chances to pull a goal back but they failed to pose any problems for Ian Nixon.
Wit 15 minutes remaining Greenock grabbed a decisive 4th goal. Greenock broke in number and Burden rolled in Michael McColgan and he gave the impressive Overtown keeper no chance and he buried low into net.
Greenock could have extended there lead in this game but it was to remain 4-1.
Overall this was a much improved performance from Greenock as the pressed there opponents all over the park to grab a place in the last 16 of the National Cup.
