Eddie Maurice-Jones has today been reappointed as Gresford Athletic first team manager.
Eddie returns to Gresford Athletic after four years, replacing Richard Capper, who was confirmed to have left the club earlier today.
The 31-year-old orginally turned out for Gresford Athletic in his late teens, but he was first appointed as Gresford Athletic first team manager in 2014, when the club were in the Welsh National League Premier Division.
In his first season at the club, the 2014/15 season, Eddie guided the club to silverware, winning both the Welsh National League Premier Division and the Welsh National League Premier Division League Cup. This gained the club promotion to the then Huws Gray Alliance. His second season was also successful, finishing in sixth place of the Huws Gray Alliance.
The talented manager then moved to Denbigh Town in the 2016/17 season, where he turned the club around from the bottom three of the league to a mid-table, tenth place finish in the Huws Gray Alliance. The following season, Denbigh Town finished in an amazing second place, defying all expectations.
His successful stint at Denbigh Town led the former Liverpool Academy player to be appointed as the director of football at Rhyl. In the 2018/19 season, Rhyl finished in fifth place under Eddie's leadership and in the 2019/20 season, Rhyl finished in ninth place, but the club dissolved and Eddie opted to not apply for the manager's position at the new pheonix club CPD Y Rhyl 1879 and instead decided to return to Gresford Athletic for the 2020/21 season.
The appointment will see Eddie reunite with Gresford Athletic director of football Steven Halliwell, with the two previously working together during Eddie's first management spell at the club, as well as the two sharing a friendship outside of football.
Also joining the club alongside Eddie is Alun Williams, who has been appointed as Gresford Athletic first team coach. Alun has previosuly worked at Gresford Athletic during the 2015/16 season and has also worked alongside Eddie at Rhyl.
Everyone at the club is delighted with the appointment and both old and new faces are looking forward to working with Eddie again for an exciting future for the club!
