We really didn't turn up to this game and as a result gave probably our worst performance of the season, hugely disappointing given that we played so well the previous week and in our last outing against Egham we were outstanding.

We were again missing some key players but we cannot use this as an excuse as we have more than enough players signed on to be able to cover this, but the players finding themselves on the bench when everyone is available need to take opportunities like this to show what they have to offer and give the Manager selection headaches every week.

We were quiet from the start and Egham had some different faces from the team we met on the first day of the season, particularly a little centre midfielder who was the main difference between the teams today and virtually all of the good things Egham did started from him.

We had chances in the first half and managed to hold Egham at bay for a while but eventually the Egham striker found his form and finished a one on one with AC on the half hour mark to take the lead 0-1.

Into the second half and Egham increased their lead quickly to two and then three shortly afterwards and our focus was now to make sure the scoreline stayed respectable. We played some nice football in odd patches but it was infrequent, some good play however by Josh on the right saw him reach the by-line and pull the ball back for Stu to finish past the keeper from 6 yards 1-3.

We showed a bit more fight now and if we had scored a second we might have panicked Egham into throwing the game away but instead we conceded the fourth and the game was now out of sight. We made numerous changes and with the game over we went even further behind after a mix up by AC saw an open goal for Egham 1-5. It was the only mistake all game by AC and to be honest it was only because of AC that we kept the score to single figures as he produced some great saves today.

Final score was 5-1 and a fair reflection of the game, more fight needed from the squad and particularly the fringe players who need to take opportunities to cement themselves into a starting position.
